A former Orlando Pirates defender has revealed the type of character individuals need to coach the Buccaneers, referencing having 'a backbone' as one of the most important.
The Buccaneers recently appointed Abdeslam Ouaddou as head coach following the departure of Jose Riveiro and the Moroccan will have big shoes to fill at the club.

Riveiro, who is now at Al Ahly, won five knockout competition titles with the Buccaneers and Ouaddou will no doubt be expected to lead the Soweto giants to glory, especially in the Betway Premiership. It's been over 10 seasons since Pirates won a Premiership title and expectations will be there former the former Marumo Gallants coach to end the dominance of Mamelodi Sundowns.
Nyauza, who was at Pirates for eight years, explained to Soccer Laduma the type of character a coach needs to work at the club. Having been there for a long period, he saw coaches coming and going and was able to see what led to the demise of a few of them.

"Orlando Pirates is a big organisation. I saw coaches come and go. if you were there for a long time, that's when you also learn that when you are a coach at Pirates, this is what you need to do or need to learn. At Pirates you need to have a backbone as a coach and you have to cooperate with management," he said.
