With Jose Riveiro set to leave Orlando Pirates at the end of the current season, the Soweto giants have begun their search for a new head coach – and interest is reportedly flooding in from around the world.
Sources close to the Siya crew have indicated that the club has been inundated with CVs from prospective candidates since Pirates officially confirmed Riveiro’s impending departure in a public statement last month.

Among the names being linked to the high-profile job is French coach Bruno Ferry, whose name is quickly gaining traction both locally and abroad.
Ferry, who is also being considered for the vacant Al Ahly job in Egypt, is said to have made a strong impression with his tactical knowledge and modern management style.
While Carlos Queiroz was initially viewed as the favourite to replace Marcel Koller at Al Ahly, recent developments indicate that Ferry has entered serious contention for that role as well.
Ferry’s growing reputation and continental appeal could make him a hot commodity in African football, with both Pirates and Al Ahly eyeing a fresh approach to leadership.
His profile appears to align with Pirates’ vision of sustained growth and competitiveness both domestically and on the continent.

As the Buccaneers weigh their options, the club’s next appointment will be crucial in shaping their future ambitions. Whether Ferry ends up in Soweto or elsewhere remains to be seen, but what is clear is that he is a coach in demand, with some of the continent’s giants likely to vie for his signature.
“Bruno Ferry, the former Azam FC assistant coach, is making an impressive impact as head coach of AS Vita Club. After guiding his side to victory in Stream B of the DRC league, they now await the Stream A winners for the championship clash. With CAF Champions League football also on the horizon, Ferry’s success hasn’t gone unnoticed – he has been offered to Orlando Pirates,” said the source.
