Nedbank Cup Last 16
Result: Chippa United 2-0 Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila
Date: 16 February 2019
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
Chippa United continued their fine run under Clinton Larsen after advancing to the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon.
The game got off to a lively start, with Edward Manqele, who was the hero in the last round, forcing Mbongani Mzimela into a fine save inside 10 minutes.
The Chilli Boys took control from then on and although they managed carve out a couple openings, they were unable to find a way past goalkeeper Tshepo Ramaele.
Ramaele came to the visitors' rescue with ten minutes remaining in the half as the TTM shot-stopper did well to keep out Kurt Lentjies' close-range as Chippa continued to dominate.
TTM had been disappointing in the first half, just as they were against Polokwane City in the previous rounds, but there were signs of a threat on the break.
However, the visitors' resolve was broken five minutes into the second half as Thabo Rakhale sent a cross to the far post, where Lentjies was on hand to nod past
Gladwin Shitolo has found regular game-time since joining Chippa from Orlando Pirates on loan, and he came to his side's rescue with 20 minutes remaining with a superb block in the box to deny TTM a certain equaliser.
Shitolo nearly became an hero at the other end ten minutes later but his header crashed against the frame of the goal.
Chippa were reduced to 10 men in the 90th minute when Andile Mbenyane was shown a straight red for lashing out at an opponent. Despite being a man down, Chippa went on to seal the win in the third minute of time added on as Mark Mayambela turned home a cross from Ruzaigh Gamildien. Here's how they lined up:Chippa: 42.
