Happy Jele targeting third Nedbank Cup title for Orlando Pirates

Happy Jele targeting third Nedbank Cup title for Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates veteran defender Happy Jele is targeting what could be his third Nedbank Cup title should the Soweto giants go all the way to the finals and win the competition.

Jele is currently Bucs longest serving player having joined the club in 2006. The 31-year-old currently holds two Nedbank titles having won the cup competition with Pirates in 2010/11 and in 2013/14. He was also a runner-up in two consecutive seasons in 2015/16 and in 2016/17.

Speaking to the Siya crew Jele stated that the Nedbank Cup was at the top of his list but warned that it would not be easy.

"It won't be easy. We are playing Ajax Cape Town and they have shown that they are more than capable of doing well so we have to be on our A-game this Saturday," said Jele.

"On a personal level, it's about having as many titles as possible. I'm a stage in my career where I want to win as much as I can so the Nedbank will provide an opportunity for myself and my teammates a chance at silverware."

Pirates are currently second on the PSL behind Mamelodi Sundowns and will have to compete effectively on both fronts if they are to come away with silverware at the end of the current campaign.

The Buccaneers will host the Urban Warriors this coming Saturday at the Orlando Stadium with the match starting at 20h15.
