Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy is over the moon to be through to the next round, however, pointed out that his side have been struggling with putting in a consistent performance throughout the 90 minutes.
City booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup competition last night, after defeating Highlands Park 3-0 at the Cape Town Stadium.
Speaking to the media, McCarthy shared that in his dressing room, the players are constantly talking about the impressive football that the likes of English Premier League giants, Liverpool and Manchester City are playing, however, he feels that if they want to play such attractive football, they have to do it consistently and not just show up for 45 minutes.
"For me, it is a bit worrying and a bit frustrating that we have to wait for these kind of performances, it's either we get it one half and not in the other half, we are missing the trick about consistency, that you've got to do it over 90 minutes," McCarthy said after the game.
"In my dressing room, players are always talking about Man City and Liverpool and the nice football we are trying to emulate, so we have to do it on a consistent basis and over 90 minutes, we can't just do it for 45 minutes, so if you want to admire people, then you have to execute it yourself."
"But, I am over the moon that we have our passage in to the next round," he added.
