Benni McCarthy Has Spoken Ahead Of His Side's Nedbank Cup Clash

Benni McCarthy's side will come out guns blazing at the Cape Town Stadium this evening, when his side welcomes Highlands Park in the Nedbank Cup competition.

Cape Town City could take one step closer to clinching their second trophy of the season and after suffering a 2-0 defeat to the Lions of the North in the Absa Premiership in December, McCarthy believes that his side is more comfortable going into the match tonight.

"We are much more of an established team than what we are when we played them the last time around," McCarthy told the media.

"For me, it put a smile on my face when it said Cape Town Stadium, we know the pitch, we know the speed of the ball, how we have to play, how we have to pass and all our results of late has been exceptional at the Cape Town Stadium," he added.

When speaking about injuries and his team selection, he said, "It's just Riyaad Norodien, he got injured.

"It is always nice when there is a big selection, for a coach its not pleasant having to leave players out that is so important and so vital to the team, but I can only pick 11 so the guys must be accustomed to (it being that) sometimes it is not personal, it is tactical.

"The best feeling when you can have a Teko Modise to choose from, Thato Mokeke, Roland Putsche and Thabo Nodada, so you've got your four best midfield players available, so I can juggle a little and see which suits us the best," he said.
