Hungry Lions Move Top After AmaTuks Stumble

Venda Football Academy 0-0 University of Pretoria

University of Pretoria remained unbeaten but were unable to remain at the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship table following a goalless draw against Venda Football Academy on Saturday.

AmaTuks also drew their midweek clash 1-1 against Magesi FC, whilst Venda who just appointed Simo Dladla as coach went down 2-0 to Hungry Lions on the road.

Hungry Lions FC 1-0 Baroka FC

Hungry Lions FC leapfrogged the University of Pretoria at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Baroka FC at the Windhoek Draught Park in Kimberley.

Lions, who edged Venda Football Academy 2-0 in midweek, needed a strike from skipper Owen Tau late in the second half to see off Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele and secured the maximum points.

JDR Stars 2-1 All Stars

JDR Stars returned to winning ways to remain in the top-half of the table following a 2-1 victory over All Stars at the Giant Stadium in Soshanguve.

The Hammerboyz made a strong start and were ahead through Bongani Cele, but All Stars pulled themselves level just before the break.

JDR though got the winner towards the end of the match with a header Abel Moeketsi following a delightful cross and extended the visitors winless run to four matches.

Platinum City Rovers 0-0 Pretoria Callies

Bottom-placed duo Platinum City Rovers as well Pretoria Callies cancelled out each other with a goalless draw in rescheduled encounter at the Wits Stadium.

The match which was set for Friday was postponed to the next day following a bee nest inside one of the goal-post, as the score-less outcome leave both sides in the relegation zone.

Sunday 16 October

Black Leopards 0-0 Magesi FC

Black Leopards moved further away from the relegation zone following a goalless draw against the new boys Magesi FC in Sunday's Motsepe Foundation Championship action.

Lidoda Duvha have had a difficult start to the campaign and remained in troubled territory down the basement following this draw along with Magesi.

Casric Stars 1-0 Uthongathi FC

Uthongathi FC's unbeaten streak in the Championship were ended after going down 1-0 to Casric Stars at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Thabang Semache got the only effort of the game in the opening six minutes and ultimately earned his side the win that keep them among the earlier pace-setters at the top.
