Teams: Bloemfontein Celtic v Orlando Pirates
Date: 12 December 2020
Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium
Orlando Pirates will be looking to break a six-year trophy drought when they face Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
Pirates have not won a major trophy since they lifted the Nedbank Cup in 2014 and come into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Cape Town City last Saturday.
The Buccaneers are unbeaten in the league this season, but have drawn too many games for their own liking. The Sea Robbers breezed past Cape Town City and Kaizer Chiefs en route to the final.
Celtic, meanwhile, are fresh off the back of a penalty shoot-out victory over DR Congo outfit Maniema Union.
Despite having knocked out Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United en route to the final, Phunya Sele Sele have been poor in the league, picking up just one four points from their opening five fixtures. Siwelele last tasted cup success in 2012 with the Telkom Knockout but have yet to win the MTN8, although they did win the BobSave Super Eight in 2005.
The sides last met in the league earlier this season early last month when Pirates claimed a 1-0 victory, thanks to a Siphesihle Ndlovu strike.
The match gets underway at 18h00.
