Basadien was given his first start by Cardoso, but only lasted 45 minutes before he was replaced by Zuko Mdunyelwa.
“No, we needed more width," Cardoso told SuperSport after the game.
"Zuko we knew he couldn’t play the whole game but knew he could play 45 so it was a necessary substitution to give more depth and width on the right."
Cardoso also went on to reveal that scorer Arthur Sales came off with a slight knock, as he explained the rest of his changes.
“Well, Arthur had to come out he felt something on his back, Themba to give more control of the game exactly and then it created more aggression on the last line of Chippa," he added.
“We understand of course Mabena brings excitement, but he is very young. Also, he brings some mistakes but they did well, they tried to do everything they could."
