Sundowns Close In On Next Star Target

Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be leading the race for TS Galaxy’s rising star Khulumani Ndamane, with whispers in the corridors suggesting a deal could be concluded soon – but with an interesting twist.

According to Siya sources, The Brazilians have intensified talks with the Mpumalanga-based club for the highly-rated 21-year-old centre-back, who is seen as a long-term defensive asset following the departure of Lucas Suárez.

Ndamane was one of the standout young defenders in the Betway Premiership last season, clocking up 27 appearances for The Rockets and showcasing maturity beyond his years.

His consistent performances have not gone unnoticed, with both Sundowns and Orlando Pirates keeping a close eye on his progress, according to sources.

However, it is Sundowns who are said to be further along in negotiations.

What makes the potential transfer even more intriguing is the possibility of a loan-back arrangement, according to sources close to the situation.

Should Sundowns secure the player’s signature before the close of the current transfer window, insiders claim the club may opt to loan him straight back to TS Galaxy for the upcoming season –   allowing him to continue gaining experience with regular game time in familiar surroundings.

“It’s an option being considered,” the source added.

“He’s still developing, and loaning him back to Galaxy could be the best move for all parties – the player, Sundowns, and Galaxy,” said the source.

While nothing has been confirmed just yet, all signs point toward the reigning league champions tightening their grip on yet another top young prospect.

As reported by the Siya crew, Sundowns have recently concluded the signing of Bafana Bafana left-back Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC.

Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns and TS Galaxy for comment on the situation but the club had not responded by the time this story was published.
