Khuliso Mudau's Move To Mamelodi Sundowns Lauded By James Mayinga

As reported in edition 1191 of Soccer Laduma, Mamelodi Sundowns have been interested in defender Khuliso Mudau, with the player is set to be unveiled at Chloorkop after making the switch from Black Leopards.

After initially reporting that Orlando Pirates had shown an interest in the 25-year-old right-back, the Brazilians entered the race as they also wanted to bolster their squad, and it has since been confirmed to the Siya crew that Mudau has signed a three-year deal with the Chloorkop outfit.

The former Magesi player is set start training with his new teammates today (Monday), with the official announcement of his signing expected to be made by the club in due course.

Mudau will join the likes of George Maluleka, Lesedi Kapinga, Peter Shalulile and Mothobi Mvala amongst the new arrivals at Downs for the 2020/21 season.

Former Sundowns defender, James Mayinga, has lauded Mudau's signing by the treble winners.

"For now, he's the current strong right-back in the PSL, even before the bio-bubble. His work ethic is second to none. Sundowns need to integrate the youngsters and if you look at how Sundowns is now, most of the players are ageing and that one (right-back) is a crucial position. You talk about Anele Ngcongca wanting to go back overseas but Anele Ngcongca is not young anymore. There's Thapelo Morena whom they are not sure how he is going to react after the injury and there is a young boy (Nicholus) Lukhubeni that can play but he's still young to play for a team like Sundowns. Yes, he has the potential, but he needs a seasoned campaigner that will stabilise the team," said Mayinga.

"For me, it's a good signing for Sundowns and a good addition to the team. The only thing that he needs to do is to continue doing what he does best. He has everything that you need from a wingback, going up and down, giving quality crosses and coming back. But playing for a team like Sundowns and Leopards are two different things. With Leopards, yes there is pressure but not that much. At Sundowns you are expected to perform week-in and week-out because it's a big club that wants to win things. There, you are challenging for something for the whole season, compared to Leopards who are maybe only trying to finish in the top eight and not even thinking about winning the league or a cup," added the ex-left-back.
