The Siya crew reported last week that Mamelodi Sundowns are eyeing Thulani 'Tyson' Hlatshwayo, but how does he compare to the current centre-backs already on their books?
After securing Motjeka Madisha's signature on a new long-term deal, it seems that Sundowns are not yet done with making the necessary decisions for their centre-back department.
Currently, the position consists of Madisha, Rivaldo Coetzee who is now being utilised in midfield, Bangaly Soumahoro and the aging Ricardo Nascimento and Wayne arendse who are 33 and 35-years-old respectively.
Indications are that Soumahoro could be heading out the exit door at the end of the season when his contract at the club expires, with the Brazilians then needing to bolster the position before the new campaign gets underway.
Hlatshwayo has already emerged on their radar, but how does the 30-year-old compare to the existing Sundowns' centre-backs on the market?
According to transfermarkt.com, Tyson is the most expensive centre-back in the PSL with a market value of ±R20.3m, which means that he is valued more than Coetzee (±R12.2m), Nascimento (±R11.2m), Madisha (±R10.6m), Arendse (±R2.5m) and Soumahoro (±R2.5m).
