Downs GM Comes To End Of Contract

There will be a departure at Mamelodi Sundowns in the coming weeks, but it's one that is higher up the food chain.

Kenneth Makhanya, who returned to the club to take over his previous role as General Manager, is expected to part company with Downs yet again.

It was nearly a year ago when the Siya crew had it confirmed that the Brazilians had made three appointments of non-playing staff with Makhanya, Shupi Nkgadima as the media and communications officer as well as Kylie Isdale for the brand and marketing specialist role.

Indications are that Makhanya had only agreed to a short term contract from October last year to the end of September 2020.

He arrived at a crucial time for the club, when coach Pitso Mosimane was still locked in discussions with the club over a new contract.

It's thought he was very much hands-on in negotiations, having been coy at the time to even let the cat out of the bag regarding updates on how far the talks over a new deal for 'Jingles' were – while news of the coach's future were eagerly anticipated.

According to information reaching the Siya crew, Makhanya will be moving on, but it is not yet clear whether Yogesh Singh, who has previously acted as the club's GM, will replace him or if the role has already been taken by someone else.

The club did not respond to the Siya crew when asked for comment.
