After former Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis was finally transferred to Orlando Pirates, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane has opened up on clubs 'overpricing' players when wanted by Chiefs.
Chiefs arguably showed a strong interest when Appollis was in demand post the 2023/24 but their approaches were turned down.

In addition, Rise and Shine reportedly valued the 23-year-old at around R20 million at that time, with North African teams such as Esperance coming close to meeting the asking price but the deals could not go through due to technicalities known by Chairman Johnny Mogaladi.
Even though Polokwane turned down the opportunity to the Bafana Bafana attacker to Mamelodi Sundowns on transfer deadline day during the 2024/25 season, for a reported offer of R15 million.
Appollis eventually moving to Pirates for what a transfer fee believed to be approximately R12 million, has sparked debate on whether most PSL teams don't want to sell their players to Chiefs, after the Glamour Boys were also quoted exorbitant fees for the likes of Khanyisa Mayo and Victor Letsoalo by Cape Town City and Royal AM.
"I feel like anyone who would give you R800 (for example) you should be fair enough to release a player right? But it cannot work that when it's Chiefs who want a certain player, it's R10 but when it's other people it's R8, that's not doing business ethically," Letsholonyane said on omniaudioafrica YouTube Channel.
"It's either two things, they know Chiefs won't pay that amount of money and they won't pay because you're overpricing a player. Two, really, really that team doesn't want to sell the player to Chiefs.

"So what do you do as Kaizer Chiefs if people are overpricing players? Personally, I would not force things myself to be honest, if there's different prices for the same player. I'd rather go to teams who put the same price or players I can afford and we'll build from there," the former Bafana Bafana midfielder suggested.
