Nedbank Cup Final
Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v TS Galaxy
Date: 18 May 2019
Venue: Moses Mabhida Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs will be looking for their first piece of silverware in almost four years when they clash with TS Galaxy in the Nedbank Cup final at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. The match gets underway at 19h00. This will be the first-ever meeting between the sides. Chiefs overcame Tornado, Magic FC, Cape Town City and Chippa United en route to the final. NFD outfit Galaxy qualified for the tournament after defeating Ajax Cape Town before getting the better of Umvoti, Jomo Cosmos, Cape Umoya United and Golden Arrows to secure their passage. After finishing outside the Absa Premiership top eight for the first time in 12 years, Chiefs will be desperate to end the campaign with some silverware. Galaxy finished in eighth position on the NFD log after a 0-0 draw with Uthongathi in their final league fixture played a fortnight ago, meaning they have had a week's longer rest than the Soweto giants, who fell to a 1-0 defeat to Chippa United last Saturday, meaning they ended their campaign in ninth position. Chiefs have the most Nedbank Cup final appearances (19) of any side, two more than arch-rivals Orlando Pirates.
