Chiefs Defender Considering Loan Move?

Zitha Kwinika's future at Kaizer Chiefs is becoming increasingly uncertain, with the 31-year-old defender now considering a move away from the club.

Kwinika, a product of Chiefs' youth academy, returned to his childhood club in 2022 after a successful stint at Stellenbosch FC. However, his second spell at the club has not gone as planned, and with no prospects of securing regular game time under new head coach Nasreddine Nabi, Kwinika's time at the club could be coming to an end.

This season, Kwinika has struggled to break into the first team.

Despite frequently being named on the Chiefs' bench, he has yet to make an official appearance in the current campaign. His lack of game time has seen him fall further down the pecking order, with Chiefs having multiple options in both the centre-back and right-back positions ahead of him.

As Kwinika enters the final six months of his contract, it has become clear that he may seek a move away from the club before his deal expires in June.

Sources close to the player suggest that a loan move is the most likely option, allowing him to secure regular playing time elsewhere. There is reported interest in Kwinika from clubs in Polokwane and KwaZulu-Natal, though the specifics of these potential moves remain unclear.

With game time hard to come by at Chiefs, Kwinika is looking for a fresh start where he can revitalize his career and gain more minutes on the pitch. His future at Kaizer Chiefs now seems increasingly bleak, and a loan move before the end of his contract appears to be a realistic and necessary step for the defender.
