In carrying on the festivities from last week, where Dr. Motaung was inducted into the South African Hall of Fame, Amakhosi invited a number of the club's legends to a Legends' Lunch at the club's home Stadium, Soccer City.
Praises poured in for 'Chincha Guluva' from far and wide as all in attendance spoke glowingly of the man who pioneered one of Africa's biggest clubs from the ground up.
For a club that has built their legacy on success and silverware on the field, it is some concern that the 2014/15 season was the last time the Glamour Boys lifted a trophy.
In light of this, club Sporting Director Motaung Jr, who himself lifted trophies as a player with the club, promised the club's Supremo that they are doing everything possible to restore the club's glory days.
"I saw the board with the words that you quoted you wanted this team to be - an institution of excellence," he said in a touching vote of thanks to his father.
"We know that in the last eight years, it's been a lot of hard work and toil but that excellence that you have begun, we need to refine again.
"We promise you from every person who is privileged and honoured still to wear that badge to give everything we can, to your legacy and the legacy of every single legend, the justice and the respect that it deserves.
"We thank you for the genuine person that you are and for the impact that you've had on this country and also for years to come," he said.
One of the club's efforts to returning to the glory days is establishing a legends committee, where the club's former players will have an input on the direction of the club going forward as reported by the Siya crew.
