Rulani, Mshishi Weigh In On Modiba's R75m Goal

It was a moment of magic, one worthy of winning any cup final and now Rulani Mokwena and Themba Zwane have commented on Aubrey Modiba's goal that saw Mamelodi Sundowns walk away as African Football League champions.

Sundowns managed a 2-0 win over Wydad Casablanca in what was a spectacular performance in front of a packed Loftus Versveld on Sunday.

Peter Shalulile and Aubrey Modiba got the goals that sealed victory for the Brazilians; however, it was the second goal that really caught the attention with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in full view.

The 28-year-old benefitted from Sundowns' relentless press in the 53rd minute, which saw the Moroccans concede possession in their own half. Modiba then expertly intercepted a loose pass, evading an oncoming defender before showing nerves of steel to lob the ball over the oncoming keeper, much to the delight of the Sundowns faithful.

Speaking to the media after the match, Modiba's captain 'Mshishi' weighed in on the goal, hailing Modiba for his audacious effort.

"It was a top goal from Aubrey. I don't know if I should use this word, but he's got balls. On a serious note, it's the final and you chip it like that?" he told journalists.

His sentiments were echoed by Mokwena, who revealed that the goal was something they worked on in training; the finish however, was something special according to the coach.

"It's satisfying to score a goal from something we've practiced. We worked on that situation really hard. The finish? I can't teach that. I would use another word but to do that takes a big pair - but how good has he been for us?" Mokwena explained.
