El Dambie: A Brand For The DStv Prem’s Most Stylish Stars

El Dambie: A Brand For The DStv Prem’s Most Stylish Stars

Owner and creative director of El Dambie, Sbu Myeni, caught up with Soccer Laduma's Fan Park to chat about his brand and his friendship with muse, Teko Modise.

Check it out!

What's the story?

El Dambie's Sbu Myeni spoke exclusively to Fan Park about his streetwear brand, how it attracted the attention of DStv Premiership ballers and his relationship with Teko Modise.

The brand regularly dresses Modise along with a host of other local stars that have a good eye for the latest streetwear trends like Royal AM's Menzi Masuku.

Let's take a closer look...

Sbu Myeni on El Dambie Part 1

Local fashion brand El Dambie has elevated the style of a host of DStv Premiership players, as well as legends of the local game.

When talking about legends, we're looking at guys like Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and the Dona himself, Teko Modise.

Myeni's brand has also been seen on AmaZulu's Hendrik Ekstein, Royal AM's Menzi Masuku, Orlando Pirates' Makhehlene Makhaula, Mamelodi Sundowns' Teboho Mokoena and Cape Town City's Khanyisa Mayo among others.

When asked about how the streetwear brand attracts SA's most high-profile ballers, he credits two of El Dambie's most loyal customers:

"When I first started, I had [customers] from the entertainment industry in Durban. People like Dogg Dbn, Junior Da Rocka, Shaun Stylist, Fey M, and Emza to mention few but after I got into contact with Pule Ekstein on Instagram, who was playing for Kaizer Chiefs at that time, I believed he helped me to tap into SA footballers market," he says.

"Then I spoke with Teko Modise and he showed so much love for the brand and I couldn't believe it because we knew that Teko was into luxury brands, so after that I was able to get others guys like oShabba, Menzi Masuku, Yeye, the Sangweni's.

"After that, I started going to hotels whenever teams played in Durban," concluded Myeni.

Ekstein and Modise have been championing this affordable brand as early as 2018, while the latter was still playing at Cape Town City.

Modise could easily be perceived as a muse for El Dambie. Dona seems to enjoy trying out some of Myeni's newest designs and putting together stunning 'fit pics to promote the brand on his well-followed Instagram account.

The Mamelodi Sundowns ambassador recently rocked a cosy green ensemble of El Dambie's winter offerings, styling it with a green PUMA puffer jacket:

Myeni was one of the first people to be announced as a talent for The Prestigious Group, Modise's talent agency that also has stylish baller Keagan Buchanan in its ranks.

The El Dambie head honcho went on to delve deeper into his relationship with the retired midfield maestro:

"We have a very good relationship, I think it's more than 4 years now. He's a very informative guy and yes he inspires me a lot because he's too ahead in terms of his fashion sense," says Myeni who appreciates their similar perspectives when it comes to fashion.
