The story
After an unsuccessful season with Cape Town City, veteran midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo is officially a free agent.
With reports having surfaced of Cape Town City parting ways with Mokotjo and two other players, the former Brentford midfielder took to Instagram to confirm his immediate departure from the club.
The 34-year-old, who made 24 appearances in the middle of the park for the Citizens, stated that he was not expecting to leave the club this early but showed love to the club's fans, supporters and "everyone behind the scenes."
"Didn't expect to be saying goodbye so soon, but we part ways with Cape Town City FC. Thank you to my teammates, the fans, and everyone behind the scenes.
"Wishing you all the best for the rest of the season and beyond," said the former Feyenoord midfield general.
Mokotjo will likely attract interest from several Betway Premiership clubs, especially after his successful 18-month stint at Sekhukhune United, who currently have his former CT City coach, Eric Tinkler, at the helm.
Mokotjo departs City with two league matches left this season against Polokwane City and Stellenbosch FC – and a likely trip to the relegation/promotion playoffs next month.
"[I am] looking forward to what's to come. Thanks for all your support," added Mokotjo.
