Man Utd's struggles have been well-documented this season as the Portuguese coach has amassed just six wins in 25 Premier League games.

However, the club's board of directors has backed Amorim to remain at the club despite the struggles. The ex-Sporting CP coach also admitted that the results this year have been "embarrassing."

According to Manchester Evening News, Amorim addressed the media for the UEFA Europa League and reportedly admitted that he should get sacked if he can't turn the club's fortunes around but later revealed that he knows what to do.

"What I’m seeing is that since I arrived here I’m always talking about the standards," said Amorim.

"I cannot see the team having these results, especially in the Premier League, and not say [anything] and not take the responsibility.

He added: "It's just that I have a clear idea what to do. I understand the problems of the team, so I’m not, I’m far from quitting."

The 40-year-old admitted that qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League might not be the best thing for the club but added that it is where Man Utd deserves to be.

"Personally, for me, I think Champions League is more important for everything - to prepare [for] the next season," he said.

"We are supposed to be in the Champions League. Europa League here is not enough and you have that feeling here. The best way to help us get into the top in a few years is the Champions League - it’s not the cup. So, for me, [the] Champions League is more important," he added.
