The story
Amakhosi's Congolese forward and fan-favourite, Glody Makabi Lilepo, opened up about the love he receives from the Khosi Nation.
His nickname "Lollipop", given to him by the club's fans, came as a result of the 27-year-old attacker's positive performances in a Chiefs shirt.
Lilepo became an instant fan favourite at the Naturena-based outfit since being snapped up from Valenciennes FC in France during the January transfer window.
Lilepo was featured as the latest guest on Kaizer Chiefs' "Get To Know Your Player" profile series, where he shared his journey of embracing South African culture since joining Chiefs, how he's fallen in love with the country, its beautiful languages and his nickname bestowed on him by the Khosi Nation.
"I didn't know, but when I googled it, I found out they call me Lollipop," shared Lilepo when asked about the nicknames he's been given since joining Chiefs.
When asked about the "Lollipop song" chanted by the fans, the baller answered, "It's a good song. They should keep singing. I'll make an effort to score more goals for you," he told Amakhosi's YouTube channel.
After making a disastrous attempt at singing the Lollipop song, Lilepo delved into how he prepares for a match.
"Before every game, I listen to gospel music as I am a Christian, so as a Christian, it’s important to me because I love Jesus and I believe in him," shared Lilepo.
He also revealed that the most famous contact on his phone is ex-FC Porto, Newcastle United and Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba.
