The story
SuperSport United secured their top-flight status with a 1-1 draw against Golden Arrows on Thursday at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The match resumed from a previously abandoned fixture on 23 February, which was halted due to a power outage.
With the original goals from SuperSport's Christian Saile and Arrows' Velemseni Ndwandwe still counting, only the second half was played on Thursday afternoon.
At the time, coach Gavin Hunt was marking his 1,000th match in South African football.
The draw moved SuperSport to 14th on the table with 27 points — tied with Cape Town City but ahead on goal difference.
After the game, coach Andre Arendse was overcome with emotion as he hugged captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo and utility player Brooklyn Poggenpoel, with club CEO Stan Matthews heavily embracing goalkeeper coach Grant Johnson and midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu.
