Atsu was described by the global charity, Arms Around The Child charity as a, "beacon of hope, love and compassion," in a Instagram post of a video that showcased his charitable visit to a children's home in Ghana.

The home is run by an Non-profit Governmental organisation called Becky's Foundation. Based in Senya Beraku in Ghana, Becky's Foundation was founded in 2012 and is supported by Arms Around The Child.

Becky's Foundation looks after displaced children who had been trafficked for child labour. Atsu was a major benefactor to this charity and at the time of his passing, he was working on a project to build a school for the children in the area.
