Panorama FC wrote one of the most memorable underdog stories of the year as they stormed to victory at the 2025 Gauteng Engen Knockout Challenge, overcoming some of South Africa’s most established youth football sides, including Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, and defending champions Kaizer Chiefs, to claim the prestigious crown.
Led by head coach Boy Gcabashe, Panorama not only lifted the trophy but did so in style, finishing the entire campaign undefeated.
Their success was underpinned by tactical discipline, sheer belief, and the brilliance of Tiago Kahn, who walked away with both Player of the Tournament and Defender of the Tournament honours. His performances at the back were nothing short of heroic, anchoring a defence that conceded just two goals in the entire competition.
Panorama’s journey began in the qualifiers where they brushed aside Kagiso Sports School (2-0), Dlamini XI (2-0), and Prestige Academy (1-0) to book their spot in the main tournament.
In the group stage, they edged Florida Albion 1-0, held Orlando Pirates to a 1-1 draw, and played out a tense 0-0 stalemate with SuperSport United, showcasing both their attacking threat and defensive grit.
From there, they ground out a narrow 1-0 quarterfinal win over RESA, before repeating the scoreline against Joburg City in the semi-final, setting up a blockbuster final against Kaizer Chiefs, a side heavily favoured to retain their crown.
But it was Panorama who rose to the occasion once more, outclassing Chiefs 2-1 in a dramatic final to complete their fairytale run.
With the Gauteng title secured, Panorama will now represent the province at the 2025 Engen Champ of Champs in October, where they’ll look to continue their incredible momentum on the national stage.
