Orlando Pirates extended their winless run to five matches in the DStv Diski Challenge after losing 3-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday morning at Dobsonville Stadium.
The Brazilians had a perfect start after Ofentse Mashiane opened the scoring in the 12th minute and they gained momentum, as Cassius Mailula scored a brace within five minutes to make it 3-0 midway through the first stanza.
Cassius Spandiel pulled a goal back for Pirates just before the hour-mark while Siyabonga Moleane took the game to the wire with the second goal back eight minutes before time.
However, Sundowns had a stronger finish, as Mailula was denied a hat-trick by the crossbar in stoppages.
Kaizer Chiefs got back to winning ways after defeating Swallows 3-1 in the Soweto derby on Saturday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.
