DStv Diski Challenge wrap

Kaizer Chiefs edged TS Galaxy 2-1 away from home to keep their spot amongst the top eight contingent intact.

Chiefs were on the losing end last week against Stellenbosch FC, but managed to turn things around this week.

Thijs Jansen and Mfundo Vilakazi got to cap off a good weekend for the Soweto outfit.

Soweto giants Orlando Pirates lost top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge following a 3-1 defeat against AmaZulu at the Rand Stadium on Saturday.

It was goalless at halftime, but Tebogo Masuku entered minutes into the restart and handed Usuthu the lead before Nkosinathi Temba levelled for the Buccaneers.

A double from Lindani Shange in the closing periods of the contest granted Usuthu a comprehensive triumph in the end.

Stellenbosch FC jumped to the summit ahead of Pirates despite settling to a 1-1 draw at home to Golden Arrows.

After getting the better of Kaizer Chiefs last time out, Stellies were set for another win following an early breakthrough from Mervin Boij though Bongumusa Nkosi rescued Arrows thereafter.

Chippa United deepened Marumo Gallants FC's plight down the basement of the table in the way of a 2-1 victory at the Wolfson Stadium.

Daine Klate's men, who suffered a heavy 5-3 loss to Royal AM last week, needed redemption and it came through Asanele Bonani and Kamohelo Hoala with Olwethu Makhanya netting for Gallants.

SuperSport United needed to come from behind to share the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Swallows FC in Dobsonville.

Matsatsantsa were first to break the ice through Thapelo Maseko, but Swallows responded to head into halftime ahead before Maseko brought United level in the latter stages for a valuable point.

Sekhukhune United returned on the winning trail following a 1-0 victory over the inconsistent Maritzburg United at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa.

With the first half ending goalless, Babina Noko entered at the restart and claimed the winner through Ayanda Dlamini.
