South Africa's CAF Award Hopes Rest On Banyana Banyana

South Africa's CAF Award Hopes Rest On Banyana Banyana

CAF Awards

South Africa's hopes for this year's CAF Awards will be heaped solely on female shoulders, with Banyana Banyana and three players up for silverware next month.

Percy Tau and Pitso Mosimane both made the long list of nominations that were released earlier in the year, but now that each award has been narrowed down to a top three, only Banyana and their key figures remain in the hat.

While South Africa's women are up for the award of Women's National Team of the Year, their coach, Desiree Ellis, could get her hands on the Women's Coach of the Year trophy for the second time after she made it into the final three.

Thembi Kgatlana is also into the last three in her category – Women's Player of the Year – after her efforts in China and for Banyana, however she's up against stiff competition from Barcelona star, Asisat Oshoala, and Cameroon international, Ajara Nchout.
