South Africa's plaudits at the 2019 CAF Awards were reserved for one person as Mzansi's only winner made history by picking up another gong at the ceremony.
It was all about Banyana Banyana with regards to Mzansi at the award show in Egypt on Tuesday night, with the national team as well as Desiree Ellis, Thembi Kgatlana and Amanda Mnthandi all in the running to scoop some silverware in North Africa.
Ellis, though, was the only one to walk away with a new addition for her trophy cabinet, making history by winning the Women's Coach of the Year award for the second time in a row, beating off competitions from Cameroon's Alain Djeumfa and former Nigeria coach Thomas Dennerby.
Meanwhile, Thembi Kgatlana lost out to Nigeria's Asisat Oshoala, Amanda Mthandi was unable to beat Riyad Mahrez to the Goal of the Year gong, and Banyana as a team were pipped to the Women's National Team of the Year prize by Cameroon.
The other major award of the night saw Sadio Mané handed the African Player of the Year for his exploits in a Liverpool and Senegal shirt, while African Cup of Nations winner, Djamel Belmadi, was named as African Men's Coach of the Year.
