Bafana Bafana got some good news for the end of the year after FIFA confirmed that South Africa has made progress in the final FIFA Rankings of 2019.
Molefi Ntseki's side won their last game of the decade last month when they saw off Sudan with a 1-0 win at Orlando Stadium, and that victory played a role in them finally making a move upwards in relation to their counterparts around the world.
Bafana are now 71st in the world according to the December FIFA Rankings – alongside the United Arab Emirates and in-between Iraq and Canada – and 13th on the continent as they failed to move at all with regards to their place alongside their fellow African nations.
While it's not where they want to be, Ntseki will be pleased at the small victory as 2019 comes to a close, and will be focused on making sure they get the new decade off to a good start in March when they play their first FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers.
