Hello fellow South Africans, this is my debut article and thanks to Soccer Laduma family for the platform. Without further ado, Bafana Bafana used to boost players of different unique strengths and in particular I am looking at the out and out wingers like Dilion Sheperd, Delron Buckley, Quinton Fortune and Elrio Van Herden who could beat defenders(full backs)on the outside and deliver quality pin point crosses for our strikers to finish. We traded this for the modern wing back play which we do not really bite that much in big tournaments, instead our midfielders have proved to be the answer and source of creativity. Take for example the game against Nigeria in the Afcon 2019 where one of our full backs was exposed and eventually leading to Bafana Bafana losing that game, and few days later in the same tournament our midfielders provided much needed impetus to win the Egypt game. Arguably Bafana Bafana midfielders were on top of their game on the day looking at the number of chances created. South Africa has stopped breeding the types of players I mentioned above without taking into consideration how this could turn out. Let's ReVisit our tradition, the treasures of our GLORY are rooted in it.
