Thorgan Hazard joined Borussia Monchengladbach on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea in July 2014, before joining the club permanently a season later. After a number of eye-catching performances in Germany's top flight in the past few years, he was said to be on the radar of a few high-profile European teams.
The 26-year-old, who was the subject of reported interest from LaLiga duo Sevilla and Valencia, among others, has now seemingly ended speculation regarding his future, telling Belgian platform VTM Nieuws he has agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund, although the transfer still needs to be sanctioned by the two clubs involved."I have reached a personal agreement with Dortmund," he told in a video interview with VTM Nieuws.
"I have said before that I want to take the next step in my career. I want to experience something new.
"It is up to the clubs, there are talks between Gladbach and Dortmund. It will take time."
Hazard's current contract with Gladbach expires in June 2020, which means the German outfit could face the prospect of losing the midfielder on a free transfer should they not sell him this year, although Gladbach's sporting director Max Eber has previously insisted that Hazard would not leave the club on a free.
