On Sunday evening, the legendary marksman scored the 138th international goal of his career, setting Portugal on their way to a second Nations League title. They were the first nation to win the trophy and have now become the first to win it twice — thanks in large part to the exploits of the Al Nassr attacker.
The veteran forward amassed a total of eight goals during the initial League A encounters and the finals, further extending his record as the most clinical marksman in international football history. The next closest European attacker is 50 goals behind him — Romelu Lukaku.
The Antwerp native and his Belgium team weren’t as fortunate as Portugal, who won the latest iteration of the aforementioned competition, as they were eliminated in the league phase. However, the Napoli man has continued to be formidable for the Red Devils. In their most recent Nations League playoffs against Ukraine, he scored three goals over the two legs, taking his tally to 88 for his nation.

Right behind him is Poland captain Robert Lewandowski. The Barcelona frontman is a Polish icon and continues to add to his legend with strong performances for both club and country. Like Lukaku, his national team were knocked out in the group stages by Croatia and Ronaldo’s Portugal, but he will be hoping to lead his country back to the FIFA World Cup next year by adding to his 85 international goals.
