UEFA updates its rankings for European club competitions after every round of Champions League and Europa League football, and has now published the latest version following the conclusion of the UCL campaign that was won by Premier League giants Liverpool.

The results are calculated based on each club's ranking points amassed over the past five seasons. These are, in turn, calculated on how far a team has advanced in European competitions, with points from the Champions League having a bigger weighting difference than points collected in the Europa League.

Despite enduring a disastrous 2018/19 campaign by their standards, Los Blancos still find themselves at the summit of the ranking.

After winning three successive Champions League titles, Los Blancos suffered a decline of note in the past season, characterised by their 5-3 aggregate loss to a youthful Ajax Amsterdam outfit in the Champions League's round of 16.

Zinedine Zidane's side managed to add 19 points to their overall rankings tally, and enjoy an eight-point lead over arch-rivals and second-placed FC Barcelona.

The Blaugrana outfit slumped to a shock 4-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of eventual champions Liverpool in the semi-finals of the UCL.

Despite their failure to clinch the prized European title, Barcelona accumulated the most points from the previous season out of the top 10 clubs, having amassed 30 points, with their overall points tally sitting at 138.

Bayern Munich occupy the final spot on the podium, with an overall points tally of 128. The Bundesliga giants' crashed out of this season's UCL competition after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Jurgen Klopp's Reds in the round of 16.

With 20 points collected since last season's campaign, Bayern have amassed their least amount of UEFA ranking points in the past five seasons.

Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid follow in fourth spot with 127 points, while Serie A giants Juventus, who acquired the services of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in a bid to lift the UCL title, complete the five highest ranked teams with 122 points, ahead of Manchester City (106 points) and Sevilla (104 points).

Despite four teams from England's top flight having competed in the finals of the Champions League (Liverpool and Spurs) and Europa League (Arsenal and Chelsea), LaLiga has the most representatives in the top 10 with four, followed by the Premier League, which has two teams in it.

The rest of the top 10 slots are made up of teams from France, Germany, Italy and Portugal.

Champions League winners Liverpool narrowly missed out on a spot in the top 10, with FC Porto pipping the Reds to 10th position.

Note: This ranking determine the seeding of each club in all UEFA competition draws. Clubs' coefficients are determined by the sum of all points won in the previous five years, plus 20% of the association coefficient over the same period.
