Pep Reacts To City's Thrashing Of Bayern

Pep Guardiola has admitted to being "emotionally destroyed" after Manchester City's UEFA Champions League win over Bayern Munich.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has made a surprise admission following his team's 3-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.

Goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland secured a convincing win over the German champions in the first leg of their quarter-final tie at the Etihad Stadium.

While Bayern had chances to get back into the game, particularly through ex-City winger Leroy Sane, the home side's clinical finishing proved the difference on the night.

Speaking after the match, however, Guardiola appeared to suggest he had been through it all while watching the game on the sidelines.

"Emotionally, I'm destroyed. I have 10 more years today. It was so demanding a game. It was not comfortable," he said in a post-match press conference, according to The National News.

"Now I have to relax – a day off for the guys, prepare for Leicester [City in the Premier League on Saturday].

"After five, six minutes it was a tight game and in part of the game they were better than us. It was difficult to control them.

"In the last minutes of the [halves] we were better and we scored three fantastic chances."

The second leg of the last eight tie will be played on 19 April at the Allianz Arena, a stadium Guardiola once called his home ground.
