Sterling provided the assist for Sergio Aguero's 1-1 equaliser after the guests had somewhat surprisingly gone ahead, and also won the penalty for the Argentine's second strike before half-time.
In the second half, Sterling himself found the back of the net three times between the 58th and 69th minute, scoring one of the fastest hat-tricks in UCL history.

UEFA have officially registered that his treble took 12 minutes, which means he was just one minute short of Ronaldo's fastest hat-trick in the competition.
The record is still held by Bafetimbi Gomis, who netted his record hat-trick for Olympique Lyon in a 7-1 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on 7 December 2011.
Blackburn Rovers' Mike Newell scored the second-fastest UCL hat-trick ever, striking thrice in nine minutes in a 4-1 win over Rosenborg in 1995, with Ronaldo and Sterling following in third and fourth place, respectively.
Shakhtar Donetsk's Luiz Adriano is also on the list after scoring a 12-minute hat-trick against BATE Borisov in 2014.

Sterling became the fifth player to score a treble or more in this season's Champions League, joining Salzburg's Erling Braut Haaland, Dinamo Zagreb's Mislav Orsic, Bayern Munich's Serge Gnabry and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.
