Serie A
Teams: Parma 1-2 Juventus
Date: 01 September 2018
Venue: Stadio Ennio Tardini
Cristiano Ronaldo's struggles in front of goal continued for Juventus, as the Serie A champions laboured to a 2-1 victory over Parma on Saturday.
Ronaldo was handed a third successive start for the Old Lady and was looking to get his maiden goal for his new club.
The visitors got off to the perfect start as Mario Mandzukic slotted home from close range after his initial effort was saved by Simone Iacoponi.
Parma, meanwhile, did not sit back and they nearly leveled matters on 14 minutes when Leo Stulac rattled the crossbar with a free-kick from outside the box.
Parma eventually pulled themselves level in the 33rd minute, as former Arsenal star Gervinho bundled the ball home from close range following a cross from Roberto Inglese.
After a quiet start to the game, Ronaldo went close to getting his first goal for Juve in the 54th minute, but he could only shoot wide from close range.
Four minutes later, Juve restored their lead as Mandzukic turned provider to pick out Blaise Matuidi with a back-heel and the Frenchman rifled the ball home from close range.
With 15 minutes remaining, Massimiliano Allegri opted for fresh legs in the middle of the park as Emre Can replaced Miralem Pjanic.
The remaining stages of the second half failed to provide any goal-mouth action as the Old Lady held on for another three points, cementing their position at the top of the log.
