Cristiano Ronaldo endured another scoreless afternoon for Juventus, although he did bag an assist in the Serie A champions' 2-0 win over Lazio.
Ciro Immobile had a great chance to open the scoring for Lazio in the 12th minute after being left one-on-one with the goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny but the Polish shot-stopper came out on top.
However, Sami Khedira almost got the breakthrough for the hosts in the 19th minute but his curling shot hit the post.
Miralem Pijanic produced a moment of brilliance to break the deadlock on the half-hour mark for Juventus with a beautiful half-volley from outside the box that sailed into the bottom corner, 1-0.
Marco Parolo should have equalised for Lazio in the first-half stoppage time with a free header inside the box but guided his effort over the crossbar following a pin-point cross into the area by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The visitors were dominating possession ten minutes into the second stanza , looking for the equaliser but the Old Lady were firm at the back.
Blaise Matuidi almost made it 2-0 for Bianconeri in the hour-mark with a strike from range that was threatening but sailed over the bar.
Ronaldo almost sensationally doubled the Old Lady's lead 20 minutes before time with a dipping strike from just outside the box but Lazio shot-stopper Thomas Strakosha made a superb save to tip the strike over the bar.
Mario Mandzukic did make it 2-0 15 minutes before time for Allegri's troops with a simple tap in at close range following after Ronaldo deflected Joao Cancelo's cross into the path of the Croatian striker.
Lazio were probing in the closing minutes but the Old Lady were comfortable at the back and closed the 2-0 victory.
