Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario feels FC Barcelona need to try something new next season, but selling Lionel Messi is not the solution.
Shock reports this week claimed that the six-time Ballon d'Or winnner wants to leave the Camp Nou 'immediately' after the embarrassing 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
It is believed Messi has also informed newly appointed manager Ronald Koeman about his decision, although club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has claimed the Argentine will not be leaving.
Former Catalan star Ronaldo feels the club can't afford to let Messi leave but they need to try new things for the 2020/2021 season.
"Messi is the reference point for this team, and if I was Barcelona, I would not let him leave in any case," the Brazil said in an interview with Marca.
"He has been a great player, and has a very intense relationship with the club.
"The situation has been exaggerated by their Champions League defeat. However, Messi needs his teammates to help him.
"Barcelona need to try something new next season. But their main player leaving is not the solution."
