Neymar Gives 'Green Light' To Former Club

Neymar has reportedly given the green light to sign for one of his former clubs amid speculation that he is headed for an early exit from Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old has not spent much time on the pitch for Saudi Pro League champions Al Hilal since signing at the start of last season. The attacker joined for a massive €90 million (R1.6 billion) fee from Paris Saint-Germain, but has had limited game time for the Blue Wave due to injuries.

Brazil's all-time top goalscorer suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury after signing for Jorge Jesus' side, which sidelined him for most of the 2023/24 season.

Neymar only returned from the knee injury this campaign, but in his second game back against Pitso Mosimane's Esteghlal FC in the AFC Champions League, he hurt his hamstring and is set to miss action for the next four to six weeks.

It seems the Saudi giants have thus become disillusioned with their marquee signing and could terminate his contract, which was set to end once the ongoing season concluded, as early as January. This opens up the door for the skilful attacker to return to his former side Santos — something, according to UOL, he wants to do.

The Brazilian publication claims that club president Marcelo Teixeira has grown closer to the decorated attacker and his father, Neymar Sr, in recent months and will try everything in the club's power to welcome back one of its greatest-ever players.

As a result of the forward making a lot of money in France and in Saudi Arabia, the idea is to give him the highest possible base salary while also offering him percentages of sponsors secured, shirts sold and part of whatever commercial deals the Peixe are able to secure.

The same report states that acquisitions of players such as Danilo from Juventus, Gabigol from Flamengo, and the coaching appointment of one Jorge Sampaoli would all be likely should Neymar put pen to paper on a contract with the South American giants.
