Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has claimed that Lionel Messi was not the same player in France as he was in Barcelona after spending two seasons alongside the Argentine.

The 24-year-old now headlines the French club's project, even if his deal at the club is set to expire at the end of the season, but he did share the spotlight with Messi and Neymar prior to both players leaving France earlier this year.
Neymar joined PSG in 2017, the same window Mbappe swapped Monaco for Les Parisiens, while Messi signed for the club in 2021 as a free agent after leaving Barcelona.
The 36-year-old then took his career to MLS side Inter Miami following the expiration of his deal in Paris at the end of June following a complicated spell in Ligue 1, although it appears Mbappe reflects positively on his time alongside Messi.
Speaking in a recent interview, the France forward admitted that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner had to adapt his game in France, which in turn allowed him to continue performing at an elite level.
"Even the best players have had to change," he told TF1.
"I played with Leo (Messi). Leo changed his game. He was not the same player when he was at Barcelona as he was in Paris, and that is what enabled him to keep winning.
"Soccer dictates how long you play for. If you don't change, soccer moves forward, and you fall into oblivion. Even the very best players have had to change."
