FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi has opened up and revealed who his best friend is in the Catalan's dressing room.
Messi's Rollercoaster Season Continues
Talking exclusively to FourFourTwo magazine, the Argentine spoke about his personal life and touched on the atmosphere in the Barcelona dressing room.
Messi told the publication that his Brazilian teammate, Dani Alves, is his best friend at the club, and that's partially because they have always played on the same side of the pitch.
"We all get on well, but I've always been closest to Dani Alves, because we played down the right of the pitch together when he joined Barça," he told FourFourTwo.
"We've spent a lot of time together on and off the pitch and we've developed a great friendship in our personal lives. That also helps a lot in games".
The Argentine also had kind words to say about Gerard Pique, as he believes he is one of the hardest working people in the team.
"There are moments when he jokes around, but when it comes to playing football there are only two things I would use to describe him: serious and hard-working," he added
With Barcelona through to the semi-final of the Champions League, the 27-year-old concluded the interview with some insight into the dressing room atmosphere.
"As a squad we try to do things socially. It varies, because everybody has their own time away from the pitch to spend with their family," he said.
"We all have different obligations, many of us have children who we pick up from school or go to bed early – anything to do with your children always takes time. When we can, we get together, but everyone has their own life."
