The Juventus superstar scored a penalty in his side's 2-0 win at Bologna on Monday evening, taking his total tally for the season to 22 strikes in Serie A.

Overall, Ronaldo has now scored 43 goals in the Italian top flight, becoming the Portuguese player with the most goals in Serie A history after breaking Rui Costa's record this week.

His penalty against Bologna saw him climb into fifth position in the European Golden Shoe race, which is led by Robert Lewandowski. Messi remained on 21 goals after drawing a blank in FC Barcelona's 0-0 draw with Sevilla, but has eight more matches to add to his tally.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, has netted a career-high 33 Bundesliga goals in 2019/20, which equates to 66 points in the Golden Shoe ranking. The Bayern Munich striker, though, has only one more league game to add to his total, while Ronaldo still has 11 more games to feature in.

Second-placed Ciro Immobile has 12 more games to add to his 27 strikes. The Lazio forward led the ranking when Europe's top leagues were suspended back in March, and he will have his first chance to find the back of the net again when his side face Atalanta on Wednesday.
