Manchester United have announced the signing of a teenage African midfielder, who impressed at the U17 FIFA World Cup last year.

The Red Devils have signed 18-year-old central midfielder Sekou Kone from Guidars FC in Mali.

The teenager is highly rated after his performances at the U17 World Cup in 2023 gained him the attention of a number of top clubs in Europe.
Kone started all seven of Mali's matches at the competition last year as the African side finished as the third-place playoff winners following an incredible 3-0 victory over Argentina.
The midfielder's arrival seems to represent a change of strategy from United's new footballing board, who reportedly see Kone as one for the future.

Born in 2006, INEOS will be hoping Kone can integrate well in England and perhaps even force himself into Erik ten Hag's first-team plans.
