According to Inter Live, the Red Devils are interested in moving for Inter Milan midfielder Nicolo Barella.
The 20-time English champions are said to be prepared to break the bank for the 27-year-old, who could receive a high-paying wage worth €10 million (R193.2 million) a year.
The Italy international has been an ever-present at Inter since his move to the club from Cagliari in 2019 on an initial loan transfer that later became permanent.
Barella has made 240 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri and has contributed to an impressive 75 goals from midfield.
The report claims he has been appreciated by United for a while, with the club wanting to transform its midfield.
Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong was previously considered a top target for the Red Devils, but it is believed a €75 million move for Barella could now instead be sanctioned.
The signing of Manuel Ugarte has added to Erik ten Hag's options in the middle of the park, with the Uruguayan expected to soon to be a regular starter in front of the back four for the club.
