The 28-year-old has penned a three-year deal with AEK Athens in Greece following his free-agent departure from the Red Devils.

According to SPORT24, the Frenchman is set to earn £2.5 million (R57.8 million) annually in the Greek Super League, while £7.5 million (R173.4 million) in performance-related bonuses believed to be up for grabs too.

The Daily Mail reports the ex-Monaco prodigy's agreement with AEK Athens has seen him become the best-paid footballer in the club's history.

While his new salary is significantly less than his earnings in Manchester, it is claimed he could still be paid more than some former teammates should he meet the conditions of the add-ons in his contract.

In Greece, Martial will join forces with ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Erik Lamela, who joined AEK on a free transfer ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The striker will be hoping injuries do not limit his playing time following his torrid past few years with fitness troubles.
