Man Utd-Linked Billionaire Reveals Conversations With Glazer Family

Man Utd-Linked Billionaire Reveals Conversations With Glazer Family

Sir Jim Ratcliffe

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who was tipped to put in a bid to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family, has revealed that he has met with the club owners.

Report: Owners Place Price Tag On Manchester United

Amid increasing fan pressure on the American owners to sell the Red Devils, the successful businessman from the United Kingdom emerged earlier this year as a candidate to submit an official bid to buy a stake in the 20-time English champions.

Ratcliffe is said to be the richest man in Britain and a fan of the Manchester-based club, and has previously discussed his desire to purchase a side playing in the Premier League.

The 69-year-old was among those who attempted to complete a takeover of Chelsea following Roman Abramovich's forced sale earlier this year, but lost out on the opportunity to Todd Boehly and his team.

He has since broken his silence on the rumours that he could make a strong attempt to get involved with United, insisting that the Glazer family have no intention to sell and that he cannot wait around for that moment to come.

"Manchester United is owned by the Glazer family," he said at a Financial Times event.

"I have met Joel and Avram. They are the nicest people, I have to say, proper gentlemen.

"They don't want to sell it (the club). It's owned by the six children of the father.

"If it had been for sale in the summer, yes, we would probably have had a go following on from the Chelsea thing.

"But we can't sit around hoping one day Manchester United will become available."
