Ruben Amorim is currently overseeing his first pre-season in charge of the 20-time league champions, and the Portuguese manager has a tough task on his hands to ensure his side performs better than last season's disappointing 15th-place finish.
Despite no European football next season, the club has already made several key signings to bolster the squad. The Red Devils have spent €153 million (R3,1 billion) on three new signings, which include the attacking duo of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, according to Transfermarkt.
A host of first-team players had already departed, including Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelöf, who left upon the expiration of their contracts, while Marcus Rashford joined FC Barcelona on loan for the season. Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho are also expected to leave the club.
Many top stars across Europe have remained linked with a move to Old Trafford for the 2025/26 season. Leading the way is RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko. The 22-year-old is reportedly at the top of Amorim's wishlist but faces stiff competition from Newcastle United for the Slovenian.
United are also reportedly looking at an Aston Villa duo to strengthen their squad. Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was lined up as a replacement for error-prone goalkeeper Andre Onana, while striker Ollie Watkins was a possible secondary option in case they missed out on Sesko.
