Man Utd 'In Talks' With Former Coach

Man Utd 'In Talks' With Former Coach

Manchester United's hierarchy has reportedly met with a surprise managerial candidate amid news Erik ten Hag could be sacked after Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Several manages have been linked with the Red Devils in recent weeks after reports emerged suggesting that Ten Hag is likely to depart Old Trafford after this weekend's FA Cup final.

The team's eighth-place finish in the Premier League, their lowest in history, has seen the Dutchman come under severe pressure in Manchester.

While Saturday presents an opportunity for United to claim silverware in what has been a poor season, reports suggest that the outcome of the match will not be taken into consideration by the club's new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Although Ten Hag has insisted he is the right man for the job, Sky Sports claims that United have been in contact with Ipswich Town head coach Kieran McKenna.

The 38-year-old inspired the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions, taking them from League One to the Premier League after just three seasons in charge.

McKenna, also linked with the vacant Chelsea role, previously served as United's assistant manager under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer between 2018 and 2021.

The meeting between United officials and his agents reportedly took place last week, suggesting the writing might be on the wall for current manager Ten Hag.

The Metro claims McKenna is a lifelong fan of the Red Devils and that a return to the club could be more appealing to him than a move to Chelsea.
