A European club president has now issued a verdict on the possibility of signing former Manchester United star Anthony Martial, who remains a free agent.
Martial was released by the Red Devils at the end of June following the expiry of his contract, after spending nine years on the books of the club, although he was notably loaned out to Sevilla for six months in January 2022.

The 28-year-old endured a number of recurring injuries issues towards the end of his time at Old Trafford, which limited him to just over 600 minutes of action in the 2023/24 campaign.
French outlet RMC Sport recently reported that Ligue 1 side Lille were keen on recruiting Martial, who last played in France in 2015 with AS Monaco.
It was further suggested that Lille were confident the financial aspects of the deal would not be an issue, although they would not be able to match the player's previous contract at United, which is said to have been worth £10 million (R235 million) a year.
After Lille's 3-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, however, the club's president, Olivier Letang, made it clear his side has no desire to sign Martial.
"Contacts with Martial? No. Absolutely none," he told DAZN.
"I'm not in the habit of stockpiling players. We have Jonathan David, Mohamed Bayo, and Matias Fernandez-Pardo.
"That's already three solutions for one position."
During his previous stint in Ligue 1, Martial made 52 appearances, registering 11 goals and six assists for Monaco after breaking into the first team as a teenager.
